Melkart, the school of friends, has been around since 1995 and from the moment you join us, our friendly atmosphere will allow you to instantly become part of our community. The school itself is a typical Andalusian house from 1856 which is situated in the old town of Cádiz, a 3,000 year old city surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. The school has three floors, an Andalusian patio, two terraces, eight classrooms, a multiuse lounge (Library, Video room, free Internet and Wi-Fi, ...), office, teacher's lounge and three bathrooms. The house is situated between the nicest places of the city, the Plaza de Mina and the Alameda, a promenade waterfront with a view of the Bahía of Cádiz.
Our primary aim is to motivate our students, and we achieve this through our excellent teaching method. Our extracurricular activities enable students to enjoy learning. These include: BBQ´s on the beach, excursions, flamenco, concerts and exchange programmes. Melkart is set in a traditional Spanish environment.
Method and Teachers
After many years of experience, we have developed our own didactic materials. Our method of education was developed in order that the student reaches the communicative competence of the language level that he currently stands at.
We try to make the student learn to face everyday situations in our language and that is why our lessons are given in Spanish from the first day.
In order to apply this method, we have native teachers who combine their own language with intensive training. In addition, the reduced number of students in each class is an advantage, which creates a familiar atmosphere that provides more efficient learning.

What is Tandem?
As a TANDEM school, we will put you in contact with a student from Cadiz who is learning your mother tongue. This will increase the effectiveness of your hours in class, while promoting intercultural exchange and serving as a support for autodidactic learning.
You will meet each other once or twice a week. Each language is spoken for the same amount of time. This way, the two participants are simultaneously both teacher and student.
