Complementary and Extracurricular Activities

Since we believe that it is impossible to learn Spanish without getting to know the Spanish culture and people, we pay special attention to extracurricular activities and therefore, we complement our Spanish courses with a broad cultural program. Our aim is to create a cordial and stimulating atmosphere in which our students are encouraged to practice their Spanish inside and outside the classroom in real life situations.

Among the activities from our broad and varied program you can find:

"Welcoming drink" with our teacher Sergio

• Have a drink with us in a bar next to school
• Meet other students form Melkart and have a whale of time every Monday
• Get together with your friends and practice your Spanish
• The first short drink ist free!

"Guided tour of Cadiz" with Javi - our expert on history

• Discover Cadiz, a wonderful city, choosing one of the four different routes
• Learn its history and enjoy the monuments
• For example, visit with us Torre Tavira ( Tavira Tower) and the Constitutional Cadiz
• During the tour have some coffee or hot chocolate with "churros" with our friendly teacher Javi
• Free! Only pay if you visit a monument

"Spanish guitar and flamenco" with Sergio and Cristina

• Sing and dance with us
• Take part in our mini-workshop of Spanish music with our teacher and guitar player Sergio who will play the guitar and sing and whose sister Cristina will dance
• Enjoy the flamenco rhythms
• Free!

"Cuisine workshop" with Pepi

• Learn to prepare the typical, Spanish food
• Pepi will prepare with you the most typical meals such as Tortilla Espanola (Spanish potato omelet), prawns in garlic sauce, Gazpacho – a refreshing tomato soup…and then of course you will try them….
• Enjoy the Spanish cuisine and at the same time learn its vocabulary
• Free!

"Volleyball on the beach or football" with Sergio

• Participate in our volleyball championships on the Victoria beach or play a match of five-a-side football
• Practice sports and have fun with your classmates and your teacher
• Free!

"Spanish Cinema Cycle" with our veteran teacher Carmen Pilar

• Get to know some of the famous Spanish films
• Discover our best actors and directors
• Learn about some important events in the Spanish history through our cinema
• Free!

"Tour of tapas" with Sergio

• Try some of the typical tapas from Cadiz
• Discover some of our most traditional gastronomic corners
• Enjoy our tapas and have a great night with us and our students
• Approximate price: 15 Euros

"Visit a wine cellar and have a walk around Jerez" with Javi

• Visit wine cellars to get to know their history and taste their famous Sherry
• Get to know our wine culture as well as to taste and savour a good Sherry
• Make the most of this visit and discover the historic downtown of Jerez
• Approximate price: 20 Euros

"Visit Rota or El Puerto de Santa Maria" with Javi

• Enjoy a ship excursion in the company of our teacher Javi
• Visit two harbor cities of the Bay of Cadiz with their medieval castles, bullrings and other attractions
• Don’t lose the opportunity to discover other corners of our province
• Approximate price: 9 - 10 Euros

"Excursion to White Villages or to Tarifa, Bolonia and Vejer"

• Get to know the route of White Villages set in the beautiful mountainous region of Cadiz
• Visit the cradle of windsurfing – Tarifa – the southernmost city in continental Europe and enjoy the beach of Bolonia, with its impressive dunes and Roman ruins
• Discover Vejer de la Frontera – one of the most picturesque White Villages in the province of Cadiz – with its narrow, paved streets and whitewashed houses
• Approximate price: 15 - 35 Euros

"Visit a fair" with some of our teachers

• Discover some of the most famous fairs in the province of Cadiz and have fun during
• e.g. Horse Fair in Jerez de La Frontera, Spring and Dry Sherry Fair in El Puerto de Santa Maria or the Fair of Carmen in San Fernando
• Experience flamenco first-hand and enjoy one of our most characteristic traditions
• Approximate price: 18 - 20 Euros
